Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon vs. Nightmare

Good work overall. You should do the legs lighter parts just like you did with sailor moon art. The one in sailor mars is abit wrong in the upper area. This highlight part is good on s. Moon. Ok on Mercury, and may be fidex on mars. (From my point of view)

Since these are based on the original illustration, they might be difficult to understand for someone like me who isn't a professional. However, I have made further modifications to Sailor Mars's legs.

No problem. I asked for this detail only because I noticed you did it perfectly on s. Moon. But now it's perfect here too! Congratulations ! 👏

I have finished the illustration for Sailor Jupiter as well.

I have now completed all the main companions.

Now I am thinking of considering Outer Senshi as well. It is highly likely that they will appear in the game.

This is the character selection screen with the illustration applied.

The reason the character height was intentionally reduced compared to the original is to leave space behind for selecting the hidden character. Outer Senshi is also scheduled to appear later.

I have finally completed Mercury's running animation.

Since I have to create movements that don't exist by referencing other sources, this is one of the tasks that takes the longest and causes the most hesitation.

As this is a process that other Sailor friends will have to go through as well, the hardships will likely continue.

I created a video of the Sailor Moon transformation scene for the game's introduction.

I tried to draw it, but it was absolutely impossible, so I referenced the animation and composed the music myself.

After taking a short break following the production of the Sailor Moon transformation video, I have now started working on Sailor Venus.

As always, the running and walking animations, which involve many frames, are making me hesitate.

Looking good. I like how this is going along with amazing updates.

The pixel art style is looking crispy in design with your own.

Yeah. Being a one-man army is quite difficult, especially you have no one to help you with non-coding stuff at all. I wish there were some people who could help you with certain graphic styles you target, but at the same time, they may be no match to your designing techniques/skills. (I know Ned is a big fan of your design choices, even when there need to have improvements, especially gameplay.)

Thank you.

I am supplementing the parts lacking in this game with my drawing skills, but progress is slowing down because the weather is very hot.

@DD Tokki, you mentioned not being able to replicate Arcade - but the arcade Sailormoon already has all of these basic animations that you are working so hard to create and all of the Sailor girls are ripped. Are you sure it wouldn't be easier for you to use it as a base?

I originally intended to attempt an arcade version as well, but the high quality made me hesitant to approach it.

Since the enemy characters were already created based on SNES designs and hidden characters could be prepared using SNES sprites, I decided to start with a less burdensome approach.

Also, because an arcade version of Sailor Moon OpenBOR already existed, I wanted to differentiate this one.

To be honest I like Arcade Banpresto's style.
But the spriteset is a mess to edit, all the colors are mixed and the level of details make it a hell for spriters. ^^
I kind of understand why @DD Tokki was kind of scared.
At least the Banpresto's sprites can be an inspiration.

Also, the arcade Banpresto's sprites are kind of overused IMO, I will not say more, but it's really fres to see good work using some different sprites for a change.

Of course, while the arcade (Banpresto) sprites might lack versatility for my purposes, they do not miss out on excellent detail and animation.

Therefore, I am creating animations that are missing by referencing the arcade version.

It would be great to work with sprites more professionally, but since I mainly work in Paint, drawing each movement is an enormous amount of tedious work. I am using the XP version of Paint.

but since I mainly work in Paint

Yikes! You need to stop that. You are making life hard on yourself. I would recommend Photoshop, but I know that's not something a lot of people can pay for. GIMP however, is almost as good, better in some ways, and its free. Paint is just about the last application you should use for OpenBOR and sprite work.

It took a while to upload this gameplay video.

There aren't many updates, but I added Sailor Venus's running animation and applied a new boss BGM.
