I've ported OpenBOR to android last week.

This actually my first android app (besides hello word), so perhaps I need more time to figure out how to optimize it and how to apply proper control logic.

Current progress: it works, better if you have a joystick and map the keys to default pc control layout (that is a=attack, d=jump, f=special, etc).  On my LG-p705 it runs at around 25-30fps under 32bit mode, for some reason, it's much slower under 16bit mode.

Get newest build here: http://www.chronocrash.com/forum/index.php?board=25.0

Some screenshots first:

Brilliant coding there Utunnels! You like the 'tech' guy in our openbor mercenary unit (oo,). .i salute you. I wish i knew how to port programs, im using a Nokia n97 and got the build 2252 port of openbor (done by ' Anotherguest'). .so im kinda restricted as to which mods i can play on the go. Would it be possible for you to do a port to symbian, it can be S60v3 like the one im using. .please do try. I kow lotsa people dat use symbian smartphones and are jus waiting for the amazing games being done on openbor

Omfg i was going to ask about a android port today

This is a very good news!

(and some people will try to sell Mods over Google Play, you can be sure of that)

I think i will shit my pants from happiness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
This is great news since so many people have android on phones, we could reach bigger audience  :)
I have galaxy S phone (1ghz as well)so i could test stuff for you whenever you want.
I can suggest maybe looking at imame4all android port which has very good implementation of onscreen buttons and it does not stuck at all like in some emulators which can skip button pressess, maybe you could look at the code and figure out how to make yours more optimized ?
http://code.google.com/p/imame4all/
In beatem-ups i always place my buttons on top cause all action is happening on the bottom of the screen.
You could also talk with the dev himself , i talked with him for awhile and persuaded to port newest version of mame  ;D
I almost bought psp for the 3rd time just cause i was missing playing my mods whenever i want.
This is best day of the whole 2012 year for me thanks to your announcments.

Yes. Best day of the year 2012 and/or the best/awesome present in the New Year.

Yeah, the touch screen logic is still crude. I just draw some circles using java over the main surface. LOL But maybe I'll leave it later for there are still other problems.
Sometimes it is still slow for unknown reason, for example, the second boss fight of Night Slashers X, when the screen blinks (some layers using alpha blending I guess).

I'm not an android coder, so maybe I need to learn some basis of its sdk, currently it is just compiled.

Maybe you could test some less demanding mods, i had problems with nightslashers on pc where it crashed for no reason or i was stuck in animation.Nightslashers is heavy scripthackjob.
Maybe plombo could help cause he ported openbor to opengl.
Its worth to talk with that imame4all dev, Look of the onscreen controls dont matter now, its fine like it is but would be nice to have them also on top so you dont keep fingers on main gameplay area but on lifebars.
Also in future would be nice to have 2 controls on one screen for bigger tablets to play together  :)

I've uploaded a test version.

Check the first post for the link.

Genesis Tab GT7200
Loads the OPenBOR. My mod (a light one) shows just the load screen and quits. Now, simply quit everytime, without showing the loading screen

It seemed openbor was trying to set the same video mode 2 times, don't know if that caused problems.

I've uploaded a newer version.

I've tried with the basic .Pak, still no success on the smartphone:

I noticed that I can't choose which mod I run, there is no way to move the cursor

Hmm, it seems this time the video is initialized, but it fails on some unknown points around loading models. LOL

BTW, I'm using android 4.0, not sure if that is the case.

In theory they should be compatible.
But I'll download 2.2 api another day to see if that makes any difference.
