HELP!! So I wanted to get back into emulation and found all these Double Dragon fan made games. Fired up OpenBor that i downloaded. I can get it to launch, but when i try to map the controller, it does not work.

Example: When i launch double dragon (WWF version), I go into options > Control Options > Setup Player 1 - I map my controls. When in there, I press enter on my keyboard, then I map my controls. The system recognizes it because when i press up on the controller (Logitech F310) it detects my selection. I hit ok, then i save the settings. Go into the game and nothing.. I cannot move no hit. No buttons work. I've tried with an Xbox controller and same issue. So frustrating. I am using OpenBoR v3.0 Build 6391, Compile Date: Apr 8 2020.

Man, it would be a real treat if i could get some help from you guys with getting this to work. As an 80's/90's kid, seeing WWF superstars in a Double Dragon game is insane.

Thank you!!

hey @kitchenmonkey

go to the night slashers rebalance thread and see the controller issues section.

erase all files from the "saves" folder

that said, , to make extra sure, map only the buttons andl leave the directions as keyboard mappings, start the ganme and test the buttons only.

after that try and map the d-pad, see if it works, if it does not make sure that its not the analog stick

Oldyz!

OMG! Thank you! I freaking got it... You will not believe what it was. I feel so dumb. I had my flight simulator flight yoke plugged in, but did not even think about it. Found the thread you were talking about. Read up on the 2 controller issue, then i thought well the xbox controller is off and i took the battery out. Then i looked towards my right and the freaking flight yoke! dude! I am in Double Dragon heaven! Gonna be up all night playing Double Dragon WWF edition. THANK YOU BROTHER!!! THANK YOU!!!

can you post a link please, my issue still isn't resolved

this problem has been driving me crazy ... sometimes I got 2 players, sometimes I got 4 and on top of it the mapping problems, even though all I am using is an Xbox wireless controller. Nothing else plugged in. And how do I get to the thread that supposedly explains all of this ???

@doughboyjoe sure thing:
here is a guide for openbor 6391

be aware that older versions of openbor have their own flavor of this issue.

basically when more than 1 control is plugged in, the 6391 verison of the engine moves the inputs to a different "slot"
not much of a problem if all controllers are the exact same, all you have to do is hit start and see what character controller 1 is actually controlling in a 2 to 4 player game.
now that i think about it...
for single player, having multiple controllers can become an issue, and its best practice to unplug the rest of the controllers before starting a single player game.
however, an arcade machine/retrobat/batocera setup with multiple controllers connected all the time, trial an error wil be needed to see where control of player one has 'jumped' to...

what OS are you using? the xbox 360 wireless controllers have issues from time to time under windows 7...
