A quick update...

Have had a longer hiatus from openbor than expected, work continues on the mod thou.  Although I had a lot of new content done, I was getting too far ahead of myself.  So I plan to strip it back to basics for a 'bare bones' demo, a few enemies and 2-3 stages.  Some script functionality is broken which has been a major part of the hold up.  I've also made a few design changes that requires a lot of things to be done over (and over) again.  The life of this mod has truly evolved over time as openbor has evolved.

I need more focus on basic gameplay mechanics, enemy AI, player's interaction etc.

I'd also like to get it compatible with the latest builds.

Still a lot of script incomplete, broken or simply not done yet that is going to be required.  I'm slowly getting better at it...I hope.

Special Thanks to everyone who has helped over the years, it's always greatly appreciated!

Now that mod could benefit from split screen feature ;D
I remember it from long time ago, you should of post some gameplay vids.

Thanks for the support guys!

@ bWWd - yeah I just saw your post about that, it's something I'd imagined be great to have in the game for sometime. Diddn't think it would be scriptable thou, hopefully another feature I can get working down the track.

I'll try and get around to making a small gameplay vid soon.

It's been too long, Beastie. You had your old version of Doom long ago. Now you just finally got better with that. ;) It's been like, how many years you've been doing/working on the project? Wow. I know you are still trying to keep this up. I think I had never seen you posted your Doom topic in Lavalit till now. I know I had my Dragon Duo topic but I'm delaying it 'cause of school and a lot of work. (My DD project is a lot to work too.) Still trying to keep things up on mine too.

P.S.: Playing split screen and first person view/shooter (ala Eternal Krauser's EC mod) would make somewhat like a 3D shooter game, but will limit to the Operations WOLF style (like a 2D).

This mod started before openbor existed lol
Also I had made platform versions of it using other engines before that. (old GameCreator etc.)

The old DOOM mod you might of played was not a proper release by me, someone managed to steal an old dev version from my computer and they made a mess of it trying to get it working without the proper openbor.EXE (was the first DOS version of openbor with small changes to suit doom)

Nah I had thread on lavalit for ages, I just don't ever have links to it in my signature or give many updates, mainly me asking questions on how to do things :p  The mod suffered data loss several times or I might of actually finished some kinda mod years ago.  Also I've had to keep restarting, everytime I've had a break there's been massive updates to openbor.  Which is the case once again.

I'm probably not going to have any stages that will be like 'operation wolf' style anymore, there's no need IMO.

Hey Beast you got a demo ready yet
Beastie is just waiting for me to fix two script bugs for him first. I'll try and have them done by the end of this weekend (if nothing to exciting happens 8) )

Can't wait to play it. I made in the 90's a Doom Plattformer too with klick an play ... aaaaaaggggeeeess ago :D

thanks for the comments guys. like matman said we're hoping to sort some script then get a demo sorted. :)

@balta - i remember klick n play, think i tried a doom game using it too :D

Waiting for some news!! :D

I like the fact you keep the face damages on the hud.
Great use of this openbor feature!

Nah MM is too busy lately, I am kind of preoccupied myself lately too.

Nothing major to report, just been tweaking things, updating enemies/doors etc with new functionality.  Redoing stages, enemy spawns etc. to suit new doors and enemies and spawn methods.

- doors that can be opened manually by player
- Secret walls/doors now possible
- enemies become hostile on approach, rather than being spawned on edge of screen as player approaches
- darkness/lighting - stages have various lighting, some darker than others, using layers, fireballs etc. appear bright.

New intro stage to episode 1(SPOILER)

Re-working a lot of things over again unfortunatey.  Trying to clean things up for a demo, the script problems aren't a major concern, it's quite possible to play the mod through, I just haven't had time to continue working on new stages.  I keep having to take long breaks from modding and it's hard to pick up where I left off, the result is the mod has a lot of unfinished and semi-functional stuff.

Nice screens.
But I'm pretty sure floor display can be edited to give more 3D feeling.
