Hello friends, with this quarantine I have more time to work on my games, today I share this new project "Guardians 2". Here are two videos, I hope you like it.

Yes :D the future of the digitized actor OpenBOR games is looking bright!!I was not expecting this.
Can`t wait to kick butt with van-damme ;D how awesome will that be?I used to love the" bloodsports" movie.!

PS: Some fun facts, the concept for Atari`s earlier digitized graphics game, "Pit Fighter", was born out of the movie "Bloodsport", so much so that the development name for the game was actually bloodsport for a while:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzEbrYzsLjE
There was even a rumour about them getting Van Damme to star in the game, but the rumor was shut down an Atari programmer and designer.
Also, i don`t know if this might be helpful for graphic assets for your game, but i just remembered 2 other digitized graphic games,

Nice start!

I think you need to find more fitting backgrounds for this kind of mod. That elevator from Vendetta is cartoony and also too small compared to characters

BTW is there any story for this mod?

Very good!
These kind of project with different licence is really refreshing !

:o This mod could get more juice, it would add different types of weapons for the player and a little variety of enemies, it would put remaps to the enemies, mm of textures for the levels, decorative elements, I would try to combine those of shoock troopers 2, vigilante, dragon ninja, merge them, it's my opinion hehehe, keep up the great work.  ;D

Hello friend Bloodbane
You are right about the backgrounds, there are few places to find material according to the graphic style. Anyway, the Vendetta elevator will double the original and from what I see it seems small haha, when I start with this work the first thing I notice is the little graphic material there is, almost all the games are cartoons and what little there is horrible, check the MAME from end to end. As the very funds of the "guardiasn of the hood" are very very ugly, finding suburbs or alleys is not easy, if someone has reference material it is appreciated, on the side of the story I still did not think of anything, but it will surely be something simple...
perhaps the loss of control of the authorities over the gangs requires the union of special forces to control the streets ... hehe.

I will not add weapons at the moment it is a lot of work to redo the images with different weapons for each player, but if you want to participate in the redrawing of the weapons there is no problem.

nice work my friend.
please release your Double Dragon Plus, i wait for long time =(

Saludos desde Brasil =)

Hello friend, my double dragon plus has already been finished for a long time. maybe today or tomorrow I will share it with you.

There is a nice start for sure! I always wanted to make a game like this - and someday I will eventually

My advice is: do not mix digitalized graphics with pixel art ones. They result is never good.

Something I liked on your game is the pace: your and Zvitor's game are the only digitalized games that I enjoy, because most of the other games seams too slow for me.

Keep the good work

Here are a few games that utilize digitized graphics, not entirely, but maybe some assets could be salvaged:
Batman Forever:

Judge Dredd:

Jackie Chan In Fists Of Fire:

Survival Arts:

Blood Warrior:

Tattoo Assassins (A really good example of how badly 2D and digitized graphics can clash..and just how bad a game can be in general xD): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lven7uMsNDE

There are some others on console, like "Way Of The Warrior" for '3DO', "Kasumi Ninja"  and "Ultra Vortek" for 'Jaguar'...they are also pretty bad...

Thanks for the contribution, I took all those games into account. Only Batman forgets it. And those of 3DO I already checked them too, what's more I have the graphics extracted from all of them. I thank you anyway ... I'm going to see the batman to see what I can extract.

Awesome! No problem, Batman Forever is also available for the Playstation and Saturn, if that's any help.
I thought maybe the backgrounds would be useful, but i can't find sprite rips of the arcade version...however, the SNES uses digitized actors instead of some of the 3D CG characters in the arcade version, it is a bit low resolution, but just in case you'd like to take a look:  https://www.spriters-resource.com/snes/batmanforever/
I also found this game while browsing that spriters' resource site, "Battle Monsters", i've never heard of it before..:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkM1lUDX6pc
This game also seems to use digitized photographs of real locations for some of the stages:
https://youtu.be/aAcxTgMjEUE?t=3m1s
This one i also completely forgot about, for the PSX, 悟空伝説  "Gokuu Densetsu: Magic Beast Warriors":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T9QmdGzQkc
I also found this while browsing that site...it's kind of bizarre, but some stages like the rooftop one do seem to use some digitized photographs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLxATRTicRE
And this, lol...of course, the character sprites are unusable xD but some of the stages could be partly used or touched up to add detail or fix perspective issues:

https://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/streetchaves/sheet/42625/?source=genre
Another 3DO game which i forgot about, or confused for way of the warrior, is "Shadow: War of Succesion":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1UGELhcisk
This game, at first i wasn't gonna sugest, because i remember it being really crazy and random, but then i looked it up again, and i think the digitized stages are actually pretty o.k:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xnl7VpOf9L0

That looks really good!
Here is a list of games with digitized sprites, altho not complete: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Video_games_with_digitized_sprites
Here is another game from it which i didn't mention because i didn't remember if it was digitized (Much of it is, i think the dinosaurs are claymation...like Primal Rage but not as good, even tho apparently this game came out first.)
"Dino Rex":

thanks for the material Nico, some games I know and others not, the contribution is very interesting. I have complete images of some of those characters. of all these for example I already have them, the complicated thing is the background

No problem ^^ nice rips!
With the "Yabause" Sega Saturn emulator, you can use the toggle layer function to capture just the backgrounds:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77TV31BrrUk
It can also be done with the "SSF" emulator (It is older, so i don't recommend it, but just in case there is a rare instance where a game is compatible in SSF but not Yabause)
The best saturn emulator nowadays  is Mednafen's Sega Saturn RetroArch core, however, i'm not sure if you can toggle layers on and off, apparently, it can be done by pressing CTRL+1 throug 9: https://mednafen.github.io/documentation/#Section_key_assignments
I just don't know if this applies to the Sega Saturn or Sony Playstation cores.

Also, luckily someone already ripped the chinese game's backgrounds, i was wondering if it could be done, since its made with the "2D Fighter Maker 2nd" fighting game engine, fortunately someone already did:

https://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/dongdongneverdie/

Many of the stages in KOF 2001 & 2002 are digitized aswell, so they might be useful, i think one of them is even a lift, the italy one:
https://youtu.be/pRYo9iChFic?t=7m33s

You can download the stage sprite pack at the bottom of this page: http://dsarena.free.fr//resources/
It's very neatly ripped, not just a picture of the single stage, but individual resources for each, it may come in handy for object sprites or something..
