Ilu play games

O Ilusionista

Captain 100K
I want to bring more complete gameplay videos to my channel, especially of games that not everyone likes but that were part of my life in some way – which doesn't mean they're good, haha.

The first one I'd like to feature is Pit Fighter.

I know all the problems it has, but at the time, seeing this game in the arcade was a reality check (it's worth remembering that it came out before MK), because of the digitized graphics.

The version I played the most was the Mega Drive one, but here I decided to bring the arcade version, but with something extra: I used a cheat to play with the final boss.

I should bring more in the future. Maybe seeing these strange games that were part of my life will help you understand why I like games today and why I do things the way I do, haha.

Dude, arcade Pit-Fighter was my jam for a little while. Going back, of course it's jank. It was jank then. But it also has a surprisingly deep fighting system to it. Just one example, is how the game tracks body level for hits, and reacts differently depending on where they land. I've started to write FAQs here on it several times.

Also, Kato is easily the worst character in the game if you play normally, because he is effectively the slowest and can't do the side to side evade and stun like Ty and Buzz...

*UNLESS...* you have the reflexes to pull his infinite combo. You have to cancel his super move into evade and then back into super move before he lifts off from the jump delay frame. It's incredibly hard to pull off, but if you can do it consistently, he stunlocks and erases anyone in seconds, including Eddie and The Masked Warrior - even if they have a power pill.

On top of that, the hits count for getting your finisher moves primed, so you can pop a backhand or spin kick to come out of it for style points. This guy pulls it off nicely.

yeah, his infinite combo is sick!
I had this "cartridge" for the Mega Drive... and I say "cartridge" because a friend gave it to me and it only had the cartridge board, without the plastic cartridge case. So we would open a Quakshot game cartridge and swap the boards to be able to play.

I even remember playing it without the case, just the board inserted directly into the Mega Drive lol

To store the board, I used a cassette tape case, because it fit perfectly.

I had the Genesis version. I remember one big difference between it and the arcade. It was something I always thought the arcade should have done, and Genesis *does* (lol).

In arcade, you can never lift Eddie or Warrior, and they also automatically break free from Ty's Knee or Buzz's headbutt. Only Buzz's double head slam and super moves work on them. But on the Genesis you can grab and lift them if you have a power pill.

Also, there's nothing more satisfying than standing right where both chairmen jump in, and dropping them with Buzz's double head slam!

I remember there was an animation of the enemy "breaking your fingers," I think it happened when you tried to throw those big characters.

Yes, but anyone can do it to anyone else too. If two fighters try to grab each other at the same time, you get locked into a button mash clench. Try it in a two player. The winner forces the loser down into that same animation and eventually to the ground.

I liked Genesis port a lot. Even the Master System one wasn't bad.
But my god of heaven: what was that SNES version...

I never played the SNES port. Everyone talks about it - and yeah, Matt McMuscles had it wining his top tier worst list for a long time, but I think something else finally knocked it off. How bad must THAT be?!
