@zanac created some fine patches for OpenBOR engine.
It is time for extended tests

Please follow instructions from here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/19326/

Thank you so much for OpenBOR

Thanks for the link. There are many people who wants to use OpenBOR in Retropie.
Just a reminder: this is not an official version, so we can't offer any kind of help/support about this build.

It is really not a great step to make this official.
You need just add a new section to Makefile to make Raspberry support official. Furthermore there is one little change in C-code!

And then we need the GL4ES wrapper. But this could be solved by a sideload of the lib file. I choosed directory /lib next to OpenBOR binary. You can download OpenBOR rev6315 - Patchname: wassili from RetroPie fourm.

BTW: Your Avengers mod is very good

Thanks buddy!
About turning it official, its up to DC to decide. But its more than that - it needs people to offer support, help in bugs, etc.

I post changes as DIFF patch. You can take a look here. It's just a add of a view compiler flags and one change in C-code... So I hope DC can possible accept this.

Now OpenBOR for Raspberry supports PAK call via command line. This will offer nice support for Emulation Station. So this is late beta state......

Patchname is galina

Please test openbor_openbeta

Oh, that is really nice. And thanks for promoting my game :)

No problem. It is because your game is so nice and it can only be played on newer versions. So perfect for BETA testing imho.

Added scriptmodule for RetroPie so we have a automatic instalation possible. Read more here --> https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/19326/openbor-6xxx-openbeta-testphase/35

The bringing to life of OpenBOR on Raspberry pi has really gotten my interest.    I was aware of OpenBOR. I had a few burned dreamcast discs loaded with mods I enjoyed for a short while.  Years later, installed it on my PC along side Mugen.  It was a good time while it lasted.  I even used the android OpenBOR.apk.  Never did give it the time it deserved due to convenience.  To play on dreamcast, I was limited to what was on a given CD.  On PC, playing multi player on computer screen with keyboard was short lived.  I thought shield TV would be it, but there was always controller issues.

Now that I can play OpenBOR on RetroPie all the doors are open.  I find myself following game updates, trying out nearly every game I come across, familiarizing myself with content creators, and have no controller issues whatsoever no matter what controller I throw at it.  Best of all, everyone is having a blast. My 5 year old, my wife, friends, nieces & nephews ect are all joining in on the fun.

If we go visit friends/family, I bring my SNES retropie console.  Dreamcast want so portable.  Also, I can download & play updates on the fly.  I just downloaded the latest Justice League update from my pc  right to my RetroPie.

Thanks to everyone on the OpenBOR team, @oilusionista, as well as @zanac , @cyperghost & @darknior for making this available on Raspberry pi.  I know as of now support is not official, but I hope one day raspberry will be supported.  I image there are others with similar stories.

I fully quote your story, The crazy thing is that.... I don't own rasbperry and i found in OpenBOR a new way to play funny games in my arcade jamma cabinet. Thanks to O illusionista that made the best beat m up that i know, My sons really like your game!

Heheheh I am so glad to hear that your kids enjoy my work :)

If they decide to build it for RecalBox/Batocera then very likely yes. But I think there a missing drivers and dependencies.

So you may download a prebuild binary and use ldd command on binary to see missing dependencies ;)

In terms of Openbor  , I'm a complete noob and truly don't understand the process of installing and putting games on the Pi

May I ask , can you give me a step by step run down on how easily I may put Openbor on my Pi

Would really appreciate it

Thank you in advance

You have to have a version of Retropie that supports the OpenBOR package. Off hand, I don't remember if it's set as an optional package or an alternative package. Either way, once you compile it (binary is quicker, but source will give you the latest version), you have to configure it with whatever front end you're using. If you're using EmulationStation, for example, there needs to be a setting in emulationstation.cfg--and honestly, it should automatically add it to the EmulationStation menu once you install the package and put some games in the Paks folder.
