I'm not sure if I will be able to include Zords, as I don't have sprites available for them. Also all six rangers will be included, including Jason/Gold Ranger.

nsw25, Thanks for the offer on the MMPR sprites. I'm not sure I should accept it just yet, though.

Also I agree that the 3D animated rangers and cogs look a bit weird, but I feel they get the job done. They're from the PC/Mac game "Power Rangers Zeo Versus the Machine Empire", a game that begs for an upgrade.

Because Beats of Power 2 is faster paced than the original PC game, the shortcomings of the sprites are less glaring I think. Also it's on OpenBOR so it will have MUCH MUCH better controls. I actually had to buy the game off Ebay after being unable to get the iso online, just to make BOP2.

i like how Tommy is live action, but teh other sprites (especially that power ranger) look really blocky and fake, dont look fluid.
I agree with NSW. I don't want to piss on your crops, but those rendered sprites looks very very bad. The animatons are stiff, the proportions are off...its a total mess.

For example, in the name of "insert your god here" what is happening with his legs?

From the show.

Hmmm...

Yes, bosses are live action.

cool you should show me how you did that got the sprites off the show and have them all the same size like that

Manually, with a loooot of patience. I go frame by frame with VLC and take stapshots, then I compile them together in a sprite sheet, then adjust some atributes (saturation, brightness, etc), then resize, then create a palette.

Resizing is tricky as hell. I used the head of the character to measure against the other sprites - however, I messed up a couple of times. That three hit combo you see in the video is actually my third attempt. The first sprites I used were too small, then in the second attemp they were too big, and I think this third attempt is right but sometimes I wonder if it's wrong as well.

This is the technique I was going to use in the He-Man/She-Ra game but I ended up making Beats of Power 1 instead.

@esn: OHHHH!!! A Buffy OpenBOR game! I've been waiting that for EVER! Please, someone! make that happen! LOL

I have thought about that many times, as Buffy and Angel are my favorite TV shows ever. The technique of grabbing sprites directly from the TV show would be harder to pull of due to:
1. Dramatic moody lighting used in the show
2. Camera angles
3. Quick cuts
4. Overreliance on stunt doubles (might as well call the game the Cynthia Crawford and Mike Massa game)

Many many years ago, before Beats of Rage, I tried to make a game based on Angel using Multimedia Fusion. I quickly gave up after being unable to recreate movement in the Z axis.

Yeah, I'd never consider sprites from the TV show.
Sprite edits of other Capcom/SNK/whatever games would be better IMO. There was a Buffy game for the GBA though...
Maybe, a whole different game, set after season 7, with new trainee Slayers (or witches) as the playable characters taking on missions for Buffy and her team. Much less spritework.

Anyway, enough derailing the thread.
Well, it is Morphing thread... ;)

This is a Great Game project. I don't think the sprites are that bad. With some good coding, you can make good use of it. Your previous Game was Enjoyable.

As I said earlier in pm, I will support you with sounds again and assist you with This Game.

Mersox, are you going to make cutscenes with images like you did for the first Game? Do you plan to use a Command Center level for this Game aswell?
