danno, those back handspring sprites look exactly like the ones I made. Did you use them from the spritesheet I published? I'm just curious. If you did I'm honored! If not.. well, disappointing honestly, but I guess great minds think alike. ;D

Yeah dude you inspired the whole project actually. I even watched an old video of illusion and the falcon which inspired the motor bike stage

danno about using screens, Damon Caskey would be the best person to explain to you - since I want to learn it too.
I know how to create and handle screens, I just don't know how to assign background images to them.

Seriously, screens are amazing tools, but they are also very involved to try and explain piecemeal. It's probably better if you tell me what you want to do and I might be able to work with you from there.

Damon Caskey two examples that we talked about in the past:

- Perspective distortion (like on the doors here), like we have in Mugen

- Fake background "mode 7" as in Castlevania IV (25:51)

Once you told me that those things would be easier to do with screens.
 
Well, from what i see Openbor can do "Polygons" (Cuboids) a bit better than Mugen, because Mugen & IKEMEN have a weird tendency to distort the mode 7 thing.

I'm pretty sure that Openbor might be able to do mode 7 with Hills too (super starwars empire strikes back)

to make a "box" (cube) it takes 4 entities: a flat sprite moving a certain parallax for the front face, a top sprite with mode 7 drawmethod with another parallax value & a left & right sprites with a "standing/vertical" mode 7 - i don't know if the actual platform/wall values can also change accordingly, but i guess that would take script

the castlevania half cilinder might take some creative scripting....
 
I've been working on a level select and ninja select suggested by Darknior
each ninja will have a different play style
after replaying shinobi on the game gear I forgot how much fun it was

I'll be in Italy next weekend and won't be able to work much while I'm there, they don't have good internet, maybe I'll start working on animated scenes, intros etc big thank you to kratus, bloodbane, Damon and O illu for all your help so far.

It's a model changer, doesn't work properly yet and won't be in the game, models don't load as they should and other issues
nothing works as intended yet.
 
If you are changing your model to another weapon be sure to use "weaploss 3" so you do not lose your weapon when hit also make sure all your weapons have the same health in header data.  Cool menu system.
 
danno Your project is really promising!

About the menu system, I think a switch ala Mega Man could be an alternative so the player wouldn't have to push start.
