could have swore I read about this but I cant find the topic. If anyone know how to skip title screen into a level please let me know.

You're not wrong, there is a command for that and it's called skiptoset.
Setting skiptoset 0 in levels.txt will skip title screen and bring player to 1st level set. However, since player is still required to acknowledge, press start will appear asking player to press start.
I had to add a simple level showing large Play button to cover Press Start in Scorer Horror game.

Thanks bloodbane can this be controlled by script ?

Just checked and it can be controlled by script thanks.

:-*wont work in new builds, works i older ones  i checked, lookup my posts and in my posts search skiptoset, youll find info there.
in new byild you have to press start, in old ones you dnt have to you play right away.same script.

bWWd,

Later builds intentionally disable most scripts out of game. It just made logical sense. Very few creators remembered to handle their scripts running out of the main game, and it caused all kinds of mystery bugs. Even when the creator is aware, it's sort of silly to require an "are we in game" check on nearly everything when most people are never meaning to run code in the menu areas anyway.

For those that DO want to run code outside of game there's an option to re-enable scripts running everywhere, but I'm on phone and don't remember its name. Pretty sure it's in the manual though.

this one ?

alwaysupdate {bi}

~This command sets when update.c script is run
0 = Only run update.c when game starts
1 = Run update.c anytime including menu, scene, select screen etc
~Use this command together with update.c of course

Glad it helped :)

BTW how do we control it with script?

Thanks Bloodbane, I didn't know that we can use "skiptoset" directly in the levels.txt. Currently I'm using the script version.
Code:
changeopenborvariant("skiptoset", 0);

Bloodbane sorry buddy I missed your question there as Kratus confirmed you can add that script on updated.c when in title or menu to jump straight to set.

bWWd,

Ahh yes, that's it!

That doesnt change anything really, character is still not spawned when i use skipselect , in old builds it worked.
This prevents me and everyone else from creating custom titlescreens because i have to press start once im in level to actually spawn character, it was not like that in old builds and skipselect nameofplayercharacter was sufficient for player to spawn in level, now its somehow not and it requires pressing start...
Even Bloodbane mentions that "press start" thing, he had to use workaround, is it possible to make it like it was before? So we dont have to press start, were already pressing start in menus, thats kinda strange having to press it again in actual stage.
Im uploading 12mb demo

Well, it works in this one https://www.dropbox.com/s/fvco5wd5g41v47a/btoads.7z
But i dont have it setup to test it, when i tested it  - i just swapped one openbor exe to the one in this archive, new build did not spawn player, the one from archive did.So i just gaveup on skipselect and custom main menu
Now that im testing it, it doesnt work in any buiild and ive got a headache its after midnight, im going to sleep.
Its just would be nice to not have to press start to spawn character after using skipselect and skipping select screen by making custom menus.
It should go right to the level and load skipselect player ,spawn it normally,  thats it, i can think of 00000000000000000000000 situations where i would want to press start in actual stage after already pressing start in my custom menus...

bWWd I think the problem is you set each different mode as a different "SET" if you just use branches to move to each stage and have one generic end of game level each different path can jump to after showing the ending based on that path you picked.

So can You jump from custom menu to stage without having to press start on stage to spawn character ? Did you tried it ?
Cause if youre just using normal menu and select screen... thats not really happening and it works fine with skiptoset.
Im talking about using custom menu for start game and all that.I want to get that working properly and i remember i had it working in some build but it was so old i couldnt really use it.
Heres how i have it, 12 MB :

I could solve it by having ability to "press start" by some command or script.

No jumping to branch does not work. Why not use a real select screen instead of a scripted one after the set is loaded.

cause it doesnt work too, you have to press start on select screen to spawn character.
its broken.
How can you use real one when you have own menu.
I use

set Menu
custfade 100
typemp  2
lives  3
credits 100

file data/title.txt

branch forest
select  data/select.txt
z 570 990
file data/levels/forest.txt
end

You can do a test, download battletoads zip i posted in this topic, then test it, it goes normally to stage and plays, but close it, replace openbor with newest one and play again, it suddenly wont work, character is not spawned in level, this is what im talking about, no matter what you do, it doesnt work.
