What is difference between using scripts and not using scripts?

Not using scripts is like eating an apple,

using scripts is like eating an apple with the sharpest knife in the world, while also changing the size of the apple, the colour, the taste, having multiple apples or even changing the apple into a watermelon.

Ummmm....then, first I have to make openbor game without scripts, When i get used to making openbor games, I can use scripts.
 
It's rather simple. If you do not use scripts, you can do whatever the engine does. It's native functionality is extensive, but there will always be edge cases where it doesn't do something you want or exactly how you want it. The most common example is grappling. It is simply not possible to have a fully functional and stable grappling setup without scripts involved.

With scripts, the line shifts. It is no longer what the engine can do, because at that point it can do anything. The question becomes what can YOU do.
