A fun, enjoyable game.
The character design isn’t consistent, but we appreciate the effort to incorporate content from *Street of Rage 4* reimagined in a Japanese style, with a touch of *Kunio* here and there.
Some enemies are pretty frustrating with their attack patterns, but by avoiding standing in a straight line and staying mobile, you can handle them.
I also thought I recognized the level layouts, which seem to be modeled after those in Street of Rage 3 and especially 4. Unfortunately for me, the game crashed after I crossed over to the castle court, right in front of the gate.
As for the moveset, I didn’t quite get the hang of it, since I’m too used to Mr. Q’s or Kratus' style. Special moves often triggered when I was mashing the controls. Progressing through levels seems to unlock variations based on the number of “Attack” hits, probably with a direction. On the other hand, I often cleared the panels using only throws.
Great work.
Edit: fixed with the 1.1 update. thanks

request:
Could you share the music playlist ? at less the titles, or the links if some are from Suno (I think of one which is slow with motoring bass, before the crash).

Thanks to the last update, I was able to go into the castle and finish the game. Thanks for the quick fix. (y)

I still don't understand how the specials are triggered but this time: Max ulti triggers when it wants. 🤷‍♂️

I played Max given that grabs are the most efficient way to clear enemies if the grab variation hasn't weakness frame.
I encountered a bug by combining dash + attack (roll attack) then up + attack (catch). Sometimes, the character freezes when chaining the catch: he freezes with the catch animation and glides in the roll direction. The character is freed by getting hit. If it happens while breaking strengthened can then you have to wait for the timer to kill you.
Edit: it was reproduced in Hack games longplay channel's video, which is used in your publication, at 20:04. It might be the end of the roll which causes the animation freeze and not the catch. /Edit
I guess that this skill combination might not be intentional because some grab-protected bosses can be catched with this combination: The DJ and X's children are now smashed meat on the carpet. 🤣

Thanks for answering. I would like the original tracks. mp3 format is fine.
@Berlioz Finally, I have made some efforts to get them. Given that the pak is not encrypted, I have compiled used paxplode under wine, compiled a slighty modified version of bor2wav to get the readable music files, and converted them from wav format to mp3 one.
- I thought to ogg format at the beginning but mp3 is more common with windows users.
- That's what I used to do a long time ago and it was good memories.

I will send you by PM a link to the archive version of files, if you want to put a link for others wanting the OST.

Edit: for paxplode, I tried later to get a linux borpak version and "paxplode" it (paxplode is just an utility shortcut inside borpak) but there are diacritics in some filenames blocking the process
- "Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character" ex: "DATA\bgs\diba\ (2) pp.gif" ("¸´¼þ")
there is probably some encoding setting to set in order to fix that.
Edit2: easy workaround "-p .bor" to skip all files except music ones.

I finally finished to test the game. (demo?)
To be honest, I first was very hyped by this game concept taking place in Japan.
But after just a few minutes of play I felt like many stuffs were a bit off.

It screams loud AI content.
The color loss and blurry aspect on the custom sprites, the cliché on the BG elements.
The lack of depth in many BG elements.

Also, the main characters entities are some from some Taiwan/China made old SOR (Old sorIV, Sor VI, SorXXX etc)
They are not bad but outdated with a lot of color loss.

Also, the enemies are a mish mash of entities taken from other "openBor Mods".
Seems like they even kept their hit sounds.

After some stages, the "new" content almost disapeared and it looked like I was playing SorXXX or similar.
I managed to finish the game and it was still pretty fun to play.

The select screen and cinematics made with AI are more than ok. even if I always prefer real pixel art.
Pretty good point on adding some elements from SOR4.

This game is one of these weirdness to try to break with the boredom.
Congratulations to have accomplished what not so many people did.

(Please keep in mind english is not my language)

The game is good and the action is well designed, but the fact that you've made practically every enemy have a "rise inv" of almost 2 seconds and that miniboss with an invincibility shield that constantly jumps off the screen makes the game's pace fall apart.
