Heres first gameplay video

Good! you apply juggling in this mod too. Are you planning complex movelist? or just simple one despite juggling ability.

I think similar to fightin spirit mod with launchers and then air combos a bit like castle crashers game but im thinking about leaving infinite juggles cause that doesnt bother me that much in beatem-up, in vs fighting game it would be a problem.

I love off the wall mods, saw your post the other day and watched the cartoon link, very odd.  Now that I see the mod in action it's a very good likeness.  Looks like the mod already has that cartoon feel to it, good job.

Not familiar with this cartoon, thou I remember similar looking polish cartoons being on tv as a kid, probably by the same artists.

Getting some of the crazy backgrounds from the cartoon in the game will be a strong point.

I tried to copy exactly BGs from the cartoon but they wont fit with pixel graphics so i have to edit stages myself.

Its a bit harder than making characters, i started new character and with new animating tool i can do animations very easy using skeletons for characters made from small parts.

I just drag points around creating animations.

Its Stickman 5.7 software by Sven Nilsen http://www.cutoutpro.com/download.html
Making sprites this way is very fun and never boring+ very easy once you made your character from cutout parts.
I try to animate to avoid that regular cutout animation feel and im trying to make it look like normal animation. You can have head with closed mouth and swap it to opened mouth, also hands with straight finger and with punch, theres lots of possible combinations to swap body parts around and add weapons to hold in hands etc.
You can animate also regular sprites, so once you made one sprite you can animate it when you split it to body parts

Looks great from the screenshots there BWWD, must have been hard work creating your own sprites. .but lotsa fun too right. I will definitely download the mod wen its complete. .cant get enough of openbor ;). Btw im a fan of your battletoads mod, infact im using the 'zombie party' set as a base 4 my WIP. .its Resident Evil - Operation Metro City. I wasnt able too ask your permisssion or notify you in doing so, hope you dont mind. .i posted about it in general forum.

Thanks, yeah its cool, i didnt asked RARE about toads so... but i know their answer if i would ask ;D

I think that kind of sprite making would be great for mods based on animated series, i like sprites for real monsters game, they arent shaded but looks close to the cartoon and also simpsons sprites, game feels more like cartoon.
I tried to do shaded sprites with this method but it looks too much like cutout, kinda like this dragons crown game characters.

Ah, damn i made a mistake in walkcycle again, wrong hand forward haha.Im lame. That one isnt bad for cutout.

I tried many tools for animation especially cutout but this one is the best and easiest, i made drawing of character today and then assembled it in the program and i already finished character, hes in the game.

Very nice animation.

Off-topic: About sprited characters, it would be possible to make the animation simple as you showed, right? I'm not sure if it would work on pixel sprites.

It depends if theres shadow on sprites, if there is then your eye will recognize that its cutout animation unless youre very carefull and you will swap sprites in proper places so shadow is consistent. It would look more like this game:

You can have very fluid animations with this program but if its too fluid then it gives out that its cutout animation.

I did new vid with some air combo and new stuff

thx, im not sure yet but i think i will switch back to 480x272, theres too much unused space by characters in 640x480 and it feels a bit weird, thres too many of them in one spot while other end of the screen is empty, in lower res it doesnt look so distracting.
Anybody knows any hi-res official beatem ups ? Or 640x480 at least, i dont know... i think i prefere if character are bigger, i thought that size would be ok for this resolution but now when i see a lot of empty space... i remember when i was little kid and i loved games that had biggest characters and used a lot of screen space, that turned me into vs fighting games because of these big characters, i hated strategy games with tiny chars... but on the other end castle crashers has small characters but it plays fine.Maybe its AI related "problem".

The air combo is awesome as heck. I've been thinking of attempting that since I played your Super Fightin Spirit mod. ;D Great job. ;)

I have seen the video and man, I have to say WOW!!  :o it´s a well balanced gameplay and I love those cartoon style sprites, excellent work bWWd I´ll wait this for sure.
