Technically it's a game machine, but I only bought it for the specs, that's not what I do with it. This is my breadwinner, and to that end it's got all the toys.
- The Entire Adobe Creative Suite (with all the extras) - I stay on top of any updates. Currently @2017
- MSSQL Dev Kit
- MS Visual Studio Ultimate
- MS Office Suite Enterprise 2016
- Codeblocks (for OpenBOR work)
- Github
That's really about it. I keep it clean as possible otherwise.
Desktop: I use my laptop as a desktop with following adds:
- Dell Ultra Speed USB 3.0 Port Replicator
- *2 Dell 54cm LED monitors
The GPU + Port Replicator can drive both monitors and the laptop screen simultaneously as one desktop, giving me a total work-space of 7680 * 2160.
Server:
| Model | Dell Poweredge 1600 |
| CPU | Xeon *2 ~1GHZ each |
| Memory | 8GB |
| GPU | lol NO |
| Screen | None (I use terminal services unless I have to hook up some old crappy monitor in an emergency) |
| HDD | *1 12GB SCSI, *8 2TB SATA arranged into 4 RAID 0 pairs. 8TB total storage. |
Almost 12 years old, runs Windows 2003 Server, and it's still my pride and joy. I keep it back in my hometown at the family business on a T1 connection. Not the greatest access speed, but keeps it in a controlled environment. If I need something big, I just set up an overnight transfer. If I need something
really big I can always drive home with my laptop (about an hour) and plug into the LAN.
Other stuff: I have several crash and burn machines not worth mentioning, but my REAL pride and joy (as in, that I have managed to keep it running) is the domain controller for my family's business. It's sitting right next to to my personal server above. Made in
1996 (yes, 96, that's not a typo) and is still humming along. ;D
